- Resumen: Metabolic liver disease, also known as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD/NASH) is a growing public health epidemic, world-wide. The increased incidence of NAFLD parallels the global increase in obesity and insulin resistance. NAFLD is highly co-morbid with mental illness, however the mechanisms are not fully understood. My work focuses on understanding the role of psychiatric medications in the development of adverse endocrine and metabolic disorders including NAFLD.
